Description:
As part of the Ung i Sommar program, Dan Sapunar led a public art and mural workshop for young participants in Malmö. The project focused on introducing youth to contemporary public art through both conceptual development and hands-on artistic production in real urban environments.
Participants were guided through the full creative process—from sketching and understanding scale to applying paint on large surfaces. The artistic outcome was a collaborative mural created under Sapunar’s direction, based on the visual language of Spaceism and adapted through dialogue with the participants and the specific site.
The project aimed to empower young people by giving them tools for creative expression and a sense of ownership in the public space. At the same time, it contributed to the transformation of the environment through contemporary art.
This commission highlights Sapunar’s experience working with municipalities, youth engagement, and socially integrated public art practices, combining artistic quality with educational and social impact.
