Description:
This large-scale public mural was created as part of ArtiScape in Ljusdal, an international public art initiative focused on activating rural and small-town environments through contemporary muralism.
Dan Sapunar developed a site-specific composition responding to the local landscape, architecture, and atmosphere of Ljusdal. Inspired by the surrounding forests, natural light, and the rhythm of the town, the mural translates these impressions into Spaceism’s visual language of geometric structures, layered movement, and vibrant color transitions.
The artwork engages directly with the building’s facade and the public space around it, creating a visual landmark that strengthens the identity of the area. Through abstraction and spatial flow, the mural invites viewers to reflect on the relationship between place, perception, and movement.
The project demonstrates Sapunar’s ability to deliver high-quality public art within an international context, contributing to cultural development and creating meaningful visual experiences in everyday environments.
